The Elemental Heresy: Prologue
Echoes After the Lich
The Nine Gods are silenced, their tomb dormant at last.
You return to Waterdeep as legends. Songs are sung of
impossible victories — of a guild that stared down death itself and won. The GOBSMACKERS
are given rest, gold, and reverence.
But peace, as always, is temporary.
A summons arrives.
For centuries, Graybriar has stood as a neutral sanctum — a
rare place where the Elemental Ley Lines converge in harmony. Each
season honours a different Elemental God:
The people have lived quietly beneath this balance.
But the balance is breaking.
Villagers speak of a two-headed giant stalking the
forests, smashing shrines, dragging hunters and foragers away. More troubling
still is the arrival of fanatical cultists preaching a new doctrine never
before heard in Graybriar:
“The Four must kneel — for the Fifth shall rule.”
The council fears civil fracture… and something far worse.
