The Big Screen: What to watch this January

Happy twennytootoo! 2022 is off to a rocking start with some fantastic big screen offerings on the cards for this year, especially for all you House of the Marvel Mouse fans. While we're still reeling from the awesomeness that was Spiderman: No Way Home, don't let the Janu-worry lull stop you from a few sweet big screen offerings!

If you're heading to the movies soon know that Ster Kinekor has enforced strict Covid protocols to ensure your health and safety. The kind and friendly staff are helpful and welcoming to assure us that the cinemas are regularly cleaned and touch points sanitized and the maximum occupancy within cinemas have been greatly reduced.

The 355

When a top-secret weapon falls into mercenary hands, a wild card CIA agent joins forces with three international agents on a lethal mission to retrieve it, while staying a step ahead of a mysterious woman who's tracking their every move.

A stellar cast and a glamorously sexy trailer with loads of action, humor and a somewhat 'Joan-Wick' approach.

Scream 5

Twenty-five years after the original series of murders in Woodsboro, a new Ghostface emerges, and Sidney Prescott must return to uncover the truth.

Don't be fooled into thinking that this franchise has been butchered repeatedly and milked drier than Spongebob in the Kalahari. From the reviews, this movie is lit AF and is deceptively funny. Could this be the return of the great slasher flicks?

The Tiger Rising

A young boy discovers a caged tiger in the woods near his home.

Not much to add. Looks like a sweet family movie.

Redeeming Love

Sold into prostitution as a child, Angel knows nothing but betrayal. Can her heart ever be mended? Based upon the novel by Francine Rivers.

Hey, no judgies. I like a good heartfelt romcom sob every now and then. It's good for the soul...not to mention the brownie points. Well, specially the brownie points 😉.

Licorice Pizza

The story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and going through the treacherous navigation of first love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973.

That 70s show gets artsy with this love story that has a lot of nostalgic feels going for it. Be sure to grow your 'stach for Movember, slip on your bell bottoms and get into your groove! The reviewers are raving about this gem.

Nightmare Alley

An ambitious carny with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychiatrist who is even more dangerous than he is.

And finally, Guillermo Del Toro returns with this ambitious neo-noir story that is stylish, dark, creepy, deep and with an absolutely captivating ensemble - this is one movie you do not want to miss out on!
