Here are my pulls for October:
1. Heroes Reborn (2021 Ongoing)
Together they ended the Kree/Skrull war, defeated Dr. Doom in his Secret War and even endured their own civil war between Hyperion and Nighthawk, but now the Squadron Supreme of America faces their greatest challenge yet: a mysterious new group of troublemakers called the Avengers.
This current series from house of Marvel is really good. It has a lot of 'what-if' vibes going for it with obvious references to Amazon Prime's The Boys as well as Marvel taking a page from DC's holy trinity and justice league and seeing how that plays out in the Marvel universe. Riveting!
2. Fallen Angels (2019 - 2020)
THE DAWN DOES NOT BREAK FOR ALL! Psylocke finds herself in this new world of Mutantkind unsure of her place in it… but when a face from her past returns only to be killed, she seeks help from others who feel similar to get vengeance.
Since the nineties X-Men/ X-Force runs, I've always been a huge fan of Psylocke. It sucks that the X-Men movies didn't really do her character justice at all. Fallen Angels puts Betsy front and center as she channels her inner Kwannon in a story that is dripping with ninjas, assassins and action.
3. King in Black (2021)
DARKNESS REIGNS! After a campaign across the galaxy, Knull’s death march arrives to Earth and, worse yet, he hasn’t come alone! With an army of hundreds of thousands of symbiote dragons at his command, the King in Black is a force unlike any Earth’s heroes have ever faced. EDDIE BROCK, A.K.A. VENOM has seen firsthand the chaos that even one of Knull’s symbiotic monsters can wreak – will he survive an encounter with the God of the Abyss himself? From Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin and VC’s Clayton Cowles comes the definitive chapter in their two-year-long VENOM saga that changed everything you thought you knew about symbiotes!
Legendary Venom scribe Donny Cates takes Marvel's beloved anti-hero on the craziest ride ever. The origin of the venom symbiote and well, all symbiotes, are revealed as well as the symbiote king-in-black Knull who is basically lord of the abyss and chaos. There's a LOT going on with many, many tie-ins. I would suggest grabbing at least the venom titles and the King-In-Black main series and perhaps one or two Spiderman tie-ins.
With Venom: Let There Be Carnage out soon, this is a great series to get into.
4. Infinity Comics: Giant Size Little Marvels (2021)
Infinity Comics are brand-new, weekly stories from Marvel’s top creators told in visionary vertical format. These exclusive Infinity Comics can only be found on Marvel Unlimited, in-universe stories designed for phone and tablet starring the X-Men, Captain America, Shang-Chi, Black Widow, Venom, Carnage, Deadpool, and more.
First up, and best suited for the vertical comic-book format, is this hilariously fun cutesy take on the avengers. This book had me chuckling out loud. Well worth a read!
5. Infinity Comic: Black Widow (2021)
The Black Widow and Hawkeye star in “Easter Egg Hunt!” You know Natasha Romanoff as the world’s greatest super-spy—cold, calculating, and efficient. But what happens when a mission gets personal? Discover an untold piece of the Romanoff legend in this Infinity Comics one-shot!
Another Infinity-style comic book, this time featuring Black Widow and Hawkeye.
6. Alien #4 (2021 Ongoing)
A BISHOP MAKES HIS MOVE. Will Gabe find his son? And if so…what will be left of him? The clock is ticking. The odds are long. The worst is coming.
Marvel's done some amazing work with their Alien series. Definitely more geared towards the fanbase but I am thoroughly enjoying the read.
