Laid Back Lazy Sundays: What's on the Couch?

On the couch for this morning's Laid Back Lazy Sunday I'm re-reading some classic graphic novels that are really worth checking out:

1. Eternals
Neil Gaiman & John Romita Jr.
Marvel Comics
The Eternals are immortals with phenomenal powers created by the more than god-like beings known as the Celestials. When medical student Mark Curry is approached by a man with strange golden eyes and told that he is an Eternal events are set in motion that force Mark to question everything he has ever believed.

There's a lot of hype around Marvel's latest offering to the MCU which is due later this year. From the trailer and synopsis, the movie looks primed to fit in with the post Endgame Marvel universe. In the meantime, prep your Eternals knowledge by reading this graphic novel from legendary scribe Neil Gaiman and illustrated by John Romita Jr. The book pays homage to the original Jack Kirby saga with an intriguing storyline that requires very little background knowledge of the source matter but by the end of it, leaves you wanting to know more.

Get your copy of Marvel's Eternals from our friends over at Reader's Den here.

2. DC Universe VS Masters of the Universe
Keith Griffin
DC Comics
After narrowly escaping his last battle with He-Man, Skeletor has fled to the most unexpected realm to recover: EARTH! Once there, he sets a plan in motion to siphon off Earth's core magic. Forging an unlikely hunting party, He-Man and company go in search of Skeletor and find themselves at odds with the heroes of the DC Universe, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe must find a way to stop Skeletor and his mysterious new master!

I'm a huge fan of He-Man & The Masters of the Universe franchise. The latest Netflix offering from director Kevin Smith was good but left me wanting for more. Currently, on Kickstarter, the miniature boardgaming company CMON have just launched their latest MOTU: Clash for Eternia game and well...they hype is real! This graphic novel takes you back to your Saturday morning bowl of cereal and cartoon sessions by having the MOTU battle it out against the DC universe. He-Man VS Superman? Yes please! This is one of the greatest crossovers in recent history and really worth checking out!

Have the power by purchasing it here from Reader's Den!

3. Identity Crisis
Brad Meltzer & Rags Morales
DC Comics
When the spouse of a JLA member is brutally murdered, the entire super-hero community searches for the killer, fearing their own loved ones may be the next targets! But before the mystery is fully solved, a number of long-buried secrets rise to the surface, threatening to tear apart and divide the heroes before they can bring the mysterious killer to justice.

A lot darker than most Justice League stories, this murder mystery is a real whirlwind of emotion, heartbreak and intrigue. Of course it's got all of the action sequences and super hero stuff we are all accustomed to from a JL event but at the core of it is a very real, very human story and a plotline that will have you on the edge of your seat as the mystery unravels.
