So, put a spring in your remote-control step and join me for a playful spin through what's hitting the small screen this September. Oh, and don't forget to keep a bowl of freshly popped, buttery popcorn just a reach away – it's springtime, after all!
Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody
A joyous, emotional, heartbreaking celebration of the life and music of Whitney Houston, one of the greatest female R&B pop vocalists of all time, tracking her journey from obscurity to musical super stardom.
The Queen of R&B pop takes center stage in a riveting performance by Naomi Ackle that will have you singing along and invested in this emotional movie.
Gamera
In the summer of 1989, four kids in Tokyo witness the emergence of the turtle kaiju Gamera, who bravely stands up against giant human-eating monsters.
Anime with Kaiju. What's not to love?
Love At First Sight
Hadley and Oliver begin to fall for each other on their flight from New York to London. The probability of ever finding each other again seems impossible, but love - and London - may have a way of defying the odds.
And speaking of love, this latest smush pieces is a perfect couch warmer with your significant other. Or your teddy bear.
Spy Kids: Armageddon
The children of the world's greatest secret agents unwittingly help a powerful game developer unleash a computer virus that gives him control of all technology, leading them to become spies themselves to save their parents and the world.
A familiar story but for a new generation of Spy Kids. Watch with kids of course. Extra points if you're an actual spy family!
Batman: The Animated Series
The Dark Knight battles crime in Gotham City with occasional help from Robin and Batgirl.
The Batman animated series was a Saturday staple in the 90s and one now that its dropped on Netflix, I will be eagerly re-watching!
Castlevania Nocturne
During the French Revolution, vampire hunter prodigy Richter Belmont fights to uphold his family's legacy and prevent the rise of a ruthless, power-hungry vampire.
Its a new and very conflicted Belmont taking reigns. I loved the dark gothic vibe, storyline, action and animation style of the previous Castlevania series so I'm super amped for this.
Sonic 2
When the manic Dr. Robotnik returns to Earth with a new ally, Knuckles the Echidna, Sonic and his new friend Tails is all that stands in their way.
Everyone's favorite blue hedgehog returns along with a bunch of new and familiar faces. The first movie was really good so this is definitely going on to my watch list.
The Little Mermaid
A young mermaid makes a deal with a sea witch to trade her beautiful voice for human legs so she can discover the world above water and impress a prince.
Disney's live action adaptations can never replace the OG animations but if you're keen to karaoke "Under da sea" and get your Mermaid self going, then this is for you.
The Wheel of Time Season 2
Set in a high fantasy world where magic exists, but only some can access it, a woman named Moiraine crosses paths with five young men and women. This sparks a dangerous, world-spanning journey. Based on the book series by Robert Jordan.
I'm on the fence with this series. The first Wheel of Time series had a lot of substance but didn't really carry through in terms of the epicness and grand scale of Jordon's masterworks. But, if you're craving some high fantasy series while eagerly awaiting the next season of the Rings of Power, then this is for you.
