The Toxic Avenger First Look

Fans of "The Toxic Avenger" have been eagerly awaiting their first glimpse of the remake of the low-budget 1984 Troma classic, and now Entertainment Weekly has unveiled images featuring Peter Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, and an almost unrecognizable Elijah Wood in Macon Blair's upcoming release.

After a teaser earlier this year, "The Toxic Avenger" is poised to have its world premiere at the opening night of Austin's Fantastic Fest this week, generating significant buzz upon its arrival. The core of the story closely mirrors the original movie, with Winston Gooze, a downtrodden janitor, undergoing a transformation into a formidable, super-strong superhero after exposure to a barrel of toxic waste. Donning a tutu and wielding a mop with lethal precision, Toxie embarks on a journey to become the mighty avenger he could never have been in his former life. Blair has indicated that the film's central narrative will largely adhere to the tried-and-true formula of the original:

"A catastrophic industrial accident turns him into a mutant and an outcast, while also granting him super strength and abilities that lead him to become an unlikely vigilante in a society in decline. Similar to the original Toxic Avenger, he's uniquely ill-suited to be a hero. He's not particularly courageous or clever, but he possesses a good heart, and when pushed into a corner, he pushes back with all his might."

Werewolf By Night Color Release

October is fast approaching, bringing with it a treasure trove of thrilling horror-themed delights for fans to sink their teeth into. In an exciting development, horror enthusiasts will have the opportunity to revisit a beloved Halloween special in a completely new and vibrant way. According to a recent report from Bloody Disgusting, Marvel's "Werewolf By Night" is set to undergo a colorful transformation. This special will make its colorful return to Disney+ on October 20.

Last year, "Werewolf By Night" made its spine-tingling debut on Disney+ and garnered praise from both fans and critics alike. What set this special apart from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects was its visually striking black-and-white presentation, paying homage to the classic Universal Monster films of the 1930s and 1940s. Now, as the short film is set to be released in full color, it raises intriguing questions about how this shift in tone will impact the viewing experience, particularly since color was used sparingly to highlight the significance of the Bloodstone's power.

Adding to the excitement, the original black-and-white version of the special will also make its debut on Hulu on September 15. This dual release promises a fresh and captivating way to experience the terror and allure of "Werewolf By Night" just in time for the spookiest season of the year.

Final Fantasy XIV Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Release of Tabletop RPG

In a recent announcement, Final Fantasy XIV marked the 10th anniversary of its A Realm Reborn reboot by introducing its very first Tabletop Role-Playing Game (TTRPG).

Conventional tabletop RPGs empower a group of participants to assume custom character roles and immerse themselves in a narrative guided by a gamemaster. The consequences of players' choices and actions are often determined through dice rolls, injecting an element of unpredictability into the storyline. With the FFXIV TTRPG, players can now explore the realm of Eorzea through this distinctive and interactive format.

"The only boundaries are those of your own imagination," as stated on the official website. This innovative endeavor opens the door to crafting original tales set in familiar locales, featuring beloved FATEs, creatures, and NPCs from the immensely popular MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV.
